Which First Aid qualification you need before your security training.

For SIA door supervisor and security guard training, you need at least an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before you start.
Your certificate must have at least 12 months left, and your training must include the extra bleeding and airway skills required by the SIA.
A First Aid certificate is separate from your security licence.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is the usual minimum starting point for the relevant SIA training. The required content also includes life-threatening bleeding and keeping airways open, beyond the standard EFAW syllabus.
Full First Aid at Work (FAW) adds training in a wider range of injuries and illnesses, but is not automatically required simply because you work in security.
Join a public course or train your security team together at work. Before booking, confirm that the course includes the extra bleeding and airway skills required by the SIA.
Learn how to respond when a colleague or member of the public collapses, chokes or is injured. You practise with CPR manikins, defibrillators, choking jackets, EpiPen trainers and more.
On private courses, we can use examples from your venue or workplace.
