Which Qualification Do I Need?
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) requires a suitable First Aid qualification before you start door supervisor or security guard training.
Practical assessment must be face to face. The extra bleeding and airway training includes techniques such as tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. Confirm that the course includes the required SIA content before booking.
Can I Use My Existing Certificate?
If your security course starts in June, a certificate expiring the following February does not have the required 12 months left.
Book suitable First Aid early enough to complete the practical training and have evidence ready for your security course.
Which Course Should I Choose?
‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ is the minimum qualification level. ‘First Aid at Work’ covers more injuries and illnesses, but is not automatically required for every security role.
Your chosen course must also include the extra SIA bleeding and airway training described above.
