Skills Relevant to a Factory Team

Staff practise cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using a defibrillator, helping someone who is choking and caring for an unresponsive person. Depending on the chosen qualification, learning includes injuries and sudden illness such as:

• Bleeding, burns, fractures and shock.
• Heart attacks, strokes and seizures.
• On full FAW, wider injuries including head, spinal, chest and eye injuries, alongside asthma and diabetes.

We use CPR manikins, defibrillators, choking jackets, EpiPen trainers and more. Specific machinery or chemical hazards may also need specialist training.

Training Based on Your Factory’s Risks

We can bring the course to your factory and use examples based on your staff’s work. A team working with hot equipment may focus on burns; staff using machinery may want to understand serious injuries.

Your trainer demonstrates the skills and gives everyone time to practise and ask questions.

Plan for Shifts and Absences

Make sure trained First Aiders are available throughout the working day. Include all shifts, holidays, sickness and separate areas or sites when planning cover.

Use HSE’s staffing guidance, your factory’s risks and your shift patterns to decide how many people to train and which course they need.

Plan Your Team’s Training Days

Standard EFAW takes one full training day. Full FAW has three days of learning; our blended option combines two days online plus one day in person. Plan cover for the practical day and allow time for any online learning.
