What Should I Wear for First Aid Training?

A few simple preparations can make your training day more comfortable.

Wear comfortable clothes and practical shoes that let you take part in hands-on training.

You may practise cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and recovery-position skills at floor level.

You do not need specialist clothing. Think about comfortably bending, moving and practising with other learners, rather than dressing for a formal meeting.

Comfortable Clothing for Practice

  • Choose trousers or other clothes you can move in comfortably.
  • Wear practical footwear for moving around the training space.
  • Bring an extra layer if that helps you stay comfortable.

Your trainer demonstrates skills before you practise. If a movement or activity concerns you, speak to us before the course so we can discuss it privately.

A Simple Preparation Checklist

Read your joining instructions for the exact venue, arrival time and anything specifically requested. Bring what those instructions ask for, and allow time to get there without rushing.

For public days, plan to arrive at 9:45am for a 10am start and 4pm finish. Use the selected venue’s travel, parking and access information.

Finish Required Online Learning

If you chose blended training, complete the required online component as instructed. Our blended guide explains how it fits with the practical session.

That preparation lets you focus on trying the skills and asking questions when you meet the trainer.

Food, Refreshments and Access Needs

Follow your joining information for food and refreshments. Public and private settings can have different arrangements, so use the details for your own booking.

Contact us before the course if you need access or learning support. Our guides to learning First Aid when kneeling is difficult and taking a course while pregnant explain what to discuss with us.
