Which First Aid Course Do I Need?

Start With Your Role

• Everyday workplace cover: most regular workplaces choose Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) for core emergencies such as collapse, choking and bleeding.
• Broader injury and illness risks: consider full First Aid at Work (FAW), for example around machinery or construction hazards.
• Childminding or designated early years cover: start with full twelve-hour Paediatric First Aid (PFA).
• Personal baby and child skills: Emergency Paediatric First Aid may suit you if no full qualification is required.
• A specific clinical, SIA or specialist requirement: use that specific requirement when arranging training.

Your employer must plan suitable First Aid cover by checking likely injuries, the people at work, shifts and absences. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) provides guidance on the number of First Aiders to train.
