How Long Does First Aid Training Take?

How many training days to allow for your course.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) normally takes one day. Full First Aid at Work (FAW) has three days of learning, and full Paediatric First Aid has two days of learning (12 hours in total).

The days you attend depend on the course format. With blended learning, part of the course is online before your practical training day.

Workplace Course Times

EFAW: one full training day, on a public course or at your workplace.
Full FAW: three days of learning; the blended option is two days online plus one practical day.
FAW requalification: a shorter option for eligible certificate holders; our team option combines one day online with one day in person.

A private blended EFAW option is also available for groups, with some learning online before the practical session.

Paediatric and Basic Life Support Times

Emergency Paediatric: one practical training day (six hours).
Full Paediatric: one practical training day plus six hours online, for twelve hours of learning in total.
Basic Life Support: three hours in person, or a private blended option with 90 minutes online plus 90 minutes in person.

Choose the qualification that fits your role. A shorter online awareness course is useful for learning but is not a substitute for a practical workplace or childcare qualification.

How Much Time Will I Need Away From Work?

Standard EFAW means one full training day, whether you join a public course or train at your workplace.

For a blended course, allow time for the online learning as well as the practical day. Full FAW has two online days; full Paediatric has six hours online.
