A Useful Way to Start the Conversation
You could ask: “I’m happy to train as a First Aider. Can we agree the duties, course payment and attendance time, and whether the role has an allowance?”
Your employer must pay for training required for its workplace First Aid cover. That is different from a course you choose for yourself, where reimbursement is not automatic.
