Why Consider Full First Aid at Work (FAW)?

Alongside cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using a defibrillator, helping someone who is choking and caring for an unresponsive person, full FAW includes:

• Serious injuries: fractures, head, spinal, chest and eye injuries, and more complex trauma.
• Sudden illness: recognising and responding to heart attacks, strokes, seizures, asthma and diabetes.
• Other situations: poisoning, shock and assessing a casualty.

The additional injury topics can be useful for teams working with machinery, tools and other site hazards. Include any site-specific specialist training in your wider safety plan.

Training Based on Your Site’s Risks

We can bring training to your site and use examples from the work your team does. Staff get hands-on practice with CPR manikins, defibrillators, choking jackets, EpiPen trainers and more.

Your trainer demonstrates each skill and helps everyone practise. Tell us about particular injuries or situations your team wants to understand.

Plan Your Online and Practical Training

Full FAW has a blended option with two days online and one practical day. You complete the full course while spending less time together in a classroom.

Each learner completes the online component as well as the trainer-led practical work. Eligible existing FAW holders can ask about the separate requalification option.

Keeping First Aid Cover on Site

Train enough people to cover each shift and keep a trained First Aider available while others attend the course. Include holidays, sickness and separate work areas.
